This is a role based in our new Soho Place office – opened in 2023 - in the heart of Central London and home to our Research Lab.

The role

We are seeking exceptional Engineers to join our newly established GenAI Engineering team. In this role, you will be at the forefront of developing and implementing cutting-edge AI solutions across G-Research, working on a wide range of projects.

As a key member of the GenAI Engineering team, you will collaborate with researchers, data scientists and business stakeholders to design, develop and deploy AI applications that drive innovation and efficiency throughout the organisation.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Developing end-to-end AI applications, from data pre-processing to model deployment
  • Collaborating with research teams to translate state-of-the-art AI techniques into practical solutions
  • Optimising AI models for performance, scalability and efficiency
  • Integrating AI solutions with existing systems and data pipelines
  • Conducting experiments and evaluating model performance to ensure high-quality results
  • Staying current with the latest developments in AI and machine learning technologies
  • Influencing the technical direction of AI within G-Research
  • Working with the latest Large Language Models (LLMs), utilising both commercial APIs and on-premises solutions
  • Applying pragmatic problem-solving skills to evaluate and integrate vendor GenAI products into the organisation
  • Upskilling and coaching team members and other engineers across the company in LLM technologies and applications

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking candidates who are comfortable working both independently and in small teams on a variety of AI engineering challenges, with a focus on practical implementation and deployment of AI solutions.

You will have the opportunity to work on diverse and challenging AI projects in a fast-paced, innovative environment, with access to state-of-the-art computing resources and large-scale datasets.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • A degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • Strong programming skills in Python, with experience in machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow or JAX
  • Hands-on experience fine-tuning LLMs and optimising hyperparameters for improved performance
  • Skilled in building LLM-powered applications for real-time decision-making and automation across various domains
  • Familiarity with RAG and agentic workflows
  • Solid understanding of machine learning algorithms, deep learning architectures, and their applications
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to translate complex business requirements into technical solutions

Desirable skills:

  • Experience with cloud platforms, such as AWS, GCP and Azure, and containerisation technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience with data pre-processing, feature engineering and model evaluation techniques
  • Familiarity with reinforcement learning algorithms and applications
  • Knowledge of software engineering best practices, including version control, testing and CI/CD
